  • Position: Travel Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – Night Shift
  • Location: Columbus, OH 43210 (Columbus respiratory therapy jobs / Ohio)
  • Setting: Hospital – Respiratory Therapy Unit (Med/Surg, Progressive Care Unit / PCU)
  • Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 5/18/2026, End: 8/17/2026)
  • Shift: Night Shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00 - 07:30)
  • Hours per Week: 36
  • Weekend Coverage: Weekends required
  • Floating: May be required to float between campuses, including East Hospital
  • Equipment: GE ventilators (Hamilton preferred) – ventilator management and troubleshooting experience highly valued
  • Parking: Multiple permit options available for convenient access

Job Requirements / Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of recent experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification preferred; Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) also accepted
  • Active Ohio state respiratory license required (Ohio fingerprinting mandatory after contract signing)
  • Current ACLS and BLS certifications
  • High school diploma and college diploma or transcripts required
  • Experience with Epic electronic charting system (electronic medical records / EMR)
  • Previous travel respiratory therapist experience preferred
  • Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
  • Two professional references required (at least one from a manager/director or formal leadership)

Responsibilities

  • Provide respiratory care to adult and geriatric patients in med/surg and progressive care units (acute care, PCU)
  • Perform aerosol therapy setup, BiPAP/CPAP management, extubation assistance, airway placement, suctioning, and tracheostomy care
  • Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and assist with ventilator weaning and respiratory care plans
  • Administer respiratory medications (e.g., Albuterol, Atrovent, Flovent, Xopenex) per orders
  • Collect sputum specimens and perform pulmonary hygiene and airway clearance techniques
  • Troubleshoot ventilator equipment, respond to high-pressure alarms, and perform ventilator management (GE/Hamilton experience preferred)
  • Document patient care accurately in Epic and communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team
  • Float to East Hospital or other campuses as required to support staffing and patient care
