Qualifications / Job Requirements
- Active Registered Respiratory Therapist credential (RRT)
- At least 1 year of experience as a Respiratory Therapist in a hospital setting (acute care or ICU experience preferred)
- BLS and ACLS certification
- Ability to work night shifts (3x12 hour schedule)
- Strong communication, patient education, and teamwork skills
Responsibilities
- Provide intensive respiratory care, ventilator management, and patient transport as prescribed
- Evaluate patients and recommend individualized respiratory treatment plans
- Administer physician-prescribed respiratory treatments using ventilatory, oxygen, and aerosol equipment
- Perform chest physiotherapy, suctioning, oximetry, capnography, and pulmonary function studies
- Assist with procedures such as bronchoscopy support, chest tube management, and tracheostomy care
- Perform arterial blood gas sampling (arterial punctures), EKGs, and basic arrhythmia recognition
- Document all treatments, patient responses, and ventilator settings accurately in the electronic medical record
- Communicate effectively with physicians, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary team members during shift handoffs
- Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot respiratory equipment and ventilators as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned to support patient care and the respiratory therapy department
