Job Details
- Position: Respiratory Therapist (RRT) / Travel Respiratory Therapist
- Employment Type: Travel Contract (13 weeks)
- Location: On-site – West Loop, Chicago, IL 60607
- Start Date: May 4, 2026
- Shift: 12-hour night shifts (3 shifts per week)
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,460 – $1,570
Qualifications / Job Requirements
- Active Respiratory Therapist credential (RRT)
- Minimum 1 year of hospital-based respiratory therapy experience (ICU, med-surg, or step-down preferred)
- BLS and ACLS certifications
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced hospital environment
- Strong communication, patient education, and teamwork skills for effective shift-to-shift handoffs
Key Responsibilities
- Provide intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed
- Manage mechanical ventilation and ventilator settings; provide ventilator weaning and troubleshooting
- Evaluate patients and recommend appropriate respiratory treatment plans
- Administer physician-prescribed treatments using ventilatory equipment, oxygen therapy, and aerosol devices
- Perform chest physiotherapy, suctioning, oximetry, capnography, and pulmonary function studies
- Assist with procedures such as bronchoscopy, chest tube management, and tracheostomy care
- Perform arterial punctures, 12-lead EKGs, and basic arrhythmia recognition
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot respiratory care and mechanical ventilation equipment
- Accurately document all treatments, patient responses, and therapy charges in the medical record
- Communicate effectively with physicians and multidisciplinary team members to ensure continuity of care
- Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of respiratory therapy practice
