Qualifications / Job Requirements

  • Active, unrestricted pharmacist license in the state of Florida (required) — Florida pharmacist license
  • Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) credentials as required by state regulations
  • Minimum 1 year of hospital pharmacy practice experience (full-time preferred; experienced part-time considered)
  • Experience with hospital automated dispensing systems (Omnicell preferred)
  • Proficiency with institutional EMR and pharmacy information systems; experience with multiple systems preferred
  • Preferred experience with regulatory compliance, audits, policies, and staff oversight (JC, CMS, State Board of Pharmacy)

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative leadership for daily pharmacy operations and medication-use processes in an inpatient rehabilitation hospital
  • Serve as Pharmacist-in-Charge when required; lead pharmacy staff hiring, training, scheduling, coaching, and performance evaluations
  • Verify, dispense, and supervise medication orders; approve technician work and maintain oversight of pharmacy technicians
  • Ensure regulatory and accreditation compliance (JC, CMS, State Board of Pharmacy, DEA)
  • Implement and optimize pharmacy automation and dispensing workflows (Omnicell and related technologies)
  • Develop and maintain medication inventory, purchasing, and cost-effective medication use strategies
  • Lead departmental performance improvement, quality programs, and medication safety initiatives
  • Provide direct clinical pharmacy services including anticoagulant monitoring, therapy optimization, drug utilization review, and medication reconciliation
  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing, and interdisciplinary rehab teams to support clinical pharmacy programs and improve patient outcomes
  • Educate medical staff and nursing teams with timely, evidence-based drug information and clinical guidance
  • Identify and resolve policy/procedure gaps in collaboration with Pharmacy Operations and hospital leadership
  • Monitor medication management processes to identify and mitigate clinical and operational risks
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support inpatient rehabilitation pharmacy services
