Job Details
- Location: Asheville, NC (28801) — Travel Respiratory Therapist / North Carolina RRT job
- Setting: Hospital – Respiratory Services (Adult, NICU, Pediatric service lines)
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (May 18, 2026 – August 17, 2026)
- Shift: 12-hour nights (6:30 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,730 – $1,860
- Weekend Requirement: At least 4 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
- Position Type: Travel Contract (hospital respiratory job)
Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Active North Carolina Respiratory License (required for NC respiratory jobs)
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
- NRP certification preferred (neonatal respiratory care)
- Minimum 1 year of hospital experience as a Respiratory Therapist (critical care experience preferred)
- Proficiency with GE R860 adult vents, Draeger infant/peds vents, Newport HT70 transport vent, V60 non-invasive devices, Vapotherm, and Comfort Flow high-flow oxygen devices
- Familiarity with Cerner EMR preferred (experience documenting respiratory care in Cerner)
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive respiratory care to adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients across hospital units, including ICU and step-down—critical care respiratory therapist duties
- Perform respiratory assessments, treatments, and procedures as ordered by the care team
- Manage, operate, and troubleshoot ventilators and respiratory equipment (invasive and non-invasive ventilation)
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
- Float to all critical care units and medical/surgical floors as needed for hospital respiratory coverage
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in the Cerner EMR
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies, respiratory safety standards, and infection control protocols
