Job Details
- Location: El Paso, TX 79902 (El Paso healthcare jobs, Texas nursing jobs)
- Position: Med/Surg LPN / Licensed Practical Nurse (Travel Contract)
- Setting: 30-bed Med/Surg unit
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM); every other weekend required
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,010 – $1,060 (competitive travel nursing pay)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Start Date: 4/20/2026
- End Date: 7/20/2026
Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Active LPN/LVN license (Texas) or eligible for state licensure
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
- At least 1 year of recent Med/Surg experience preferred (Med/Surg LPN experience)
- Strong critical thinking and assessment skills
- Adaptability to a fast-paced, rapidly changing hospital environment
- Teamwork, cultural competence, and excellent communication skills
- IV skills, central line and Foley management preferred (IV therapy experience a plus)
- Experience with Meditech EMR is a plus (electronic medical record experience)
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care to a diverse Med/Surg population (typical patient ratio 1:6)
- Administer medications, manage IVs, and perform wound care according to unit protocols
- Monitor, assess, and document patient status using Meditech EMR and standard documentation practices
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including RNs, CNAs, case managers, and physicians
- Assist with chronic wound care and management of patients with cardiac, renal transplant, dialysis, pulmonary, GI, and diabetes needs
- Maintain a safe and supportive environment for patients and staff; follow unit policies and dress code (Royal Blue scrubs for RNs, Green for PCTs)
- Support continuity of care during night shift handoffs and participate in patient-focused teamwork
