- Facility: Magnet-designated, nationally ranked teaching hospital; Level 1 Trauma Center
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (option to extend up to 26 weeks)
- Shift: Nights, 3x12-hour (19:00 - 07:30); may include evening shifts (15:00 - 23:30, 23:00 - 07:30)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Weekend Rotation: Required
- On-Call: 1 call shift every 6 weeks
- Start Date: May 11, 2026
Requirements / Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years recent experience as a staff Respiratory Therapist in an acute care hospital; critical care / ICU experience preferred
- Experience in an Academic Level 1 Trauma Center or similar large hospital setting required
- Graduate of a COARC-accredited respiratory therapy program
- Active NBRC RRT credential
- Active Wisconsin RCP license required (pending WI license accepted at time of submission)
- BLS certification (AHA only)
- Epic electronic health record (EHR) experience required
- Previous travel respiratory therapist experience required (travel healthcare / hospital travel contract experience)
- Ability to pass strict telemetry exams (adult and pediatric) prior to start
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive respiratory care to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients in ICU, step-down, and med-surg units
- Provide advanced respiratory procedures: aerosol therapy, chest physiotherapy, intubation assist, arterial blood gas collection, and ventilator management
- Manage and troubleshoot respiratory devices including BiPAP, CPAP, HFNC, mechanical ventilators, and tracheostomy equipment
- Care for patients with ARDS, cystic fibrosis, RSV, and other complex respiratory illnesses
- Float between units as staffing needs require and support multidisciplinary critical care teams
- Participate in weekend and holiday rotations and scheduled on-call shifts
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in Epic and follow hospital respiratory care protocols
