Job Details
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks (April 21, 2026 – July 21, 2026)
- Role: Travel Nurse / Contract RN – Cardiac Stepdown / Telemetry RN
- Setting: Acute Care – Cardiac Stepdown Unit (22 beds)
- Shift: 12-hour rotating shifts (day/night); averages every other weekend; holidays as needed
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Self-Scheduling: Unit uses a scheduling committee; block scheduling may be discussed
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,000 – $2,100
- Location: Wheeling, WV 26003 — travel nurse opportunity in West Virginia
- Charting System: Allscripts EHR
- Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs; no artificial nails
Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state of practice or compact license accepted)
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- At least 1 year of recent acute care experience, preferably in Cardiac Stepdown, Telemetry, or similar cardiac/medical-surgical settings
- Experience with epicardial pacing, chest tube management, and post-op cardiac care (CABG, TAVR, VATS)
- Proficient in titrating cardiac drips (e.g., Cardizem, amiodarone, procainamide, dopamine, dobutamine, heparin, insulin)
- Comfortable with rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and floating as needed
- Must submit a copy of an unexpired driver’s license with application
- Travel nursing experience and Allscripts EHR experience are a plus
Responsibilities – Cardiac RN / Telemetry RN
- Provide high-quality nursing care to patients with cardiac and thoracic diagnoses (bradycardia, A-fib, CHF, CAD, NSTEMI, PVD, PE, CVA/TIA)
- Deliver post-operative care for cardiac/thoracic surgeries (post-op VATS, lobectomy, wedge resection, chest tubes, tracheotomy, TAVR, post-op CABG)
- Perform continuous cardiac monitoring and interpret telemetry; promptly recognize arrhythmias and clinical deterioration
- Monitor and titrate cardiac drips and vasoactive infusions per physician orders
- Collaborate closely with hospitalists, intensivists, cardiology teams, and respiratory therapists (RT available 24/7)
- Document care accurately and timely in Allscripts EHR
- Participate in unit self-scheduling, support a team-oriented environment, and adhere to hospital policies and safety standards
- Complete a 12-hour orientation shift with a preceptor to ensure safe transition into the unit
