• Start Date: May 11, 2026
• End Date: August 8, 2026
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: 10-hour days (6:30 AM – 5:00 PM), rotational call coverage including occasional weekend call (one 24-hour call on either Saturday or Sunday)
• Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,790 – $1,920

Job Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program (verification required)
• Certified Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Tech required
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a hospital CVOR or cardiac OR setting
• Ability to scrub independently for cardiovascular and cardiothoracic procedures
• Willingness to take rotational call, including occasional weekend 24-hour call
• No local candidates — must live at least 50 miles from Rockford, IL
• Preferred: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or additional cardiac-specific training/certifications

Responsibilities

• Provide skilled scrub assistance for cardiovascular and cardiac surgical procedures as an integral member of the heart team
• Maintain strict sterile technique and ensure proper handling, preparation, and tracking of surgical instruments and implants
• Prepare and organize CVOR trays, specialty equipment, and supplies for cases such as CABG, valve repair/replacement, and other cardiac procedures
• Assist with patient positioning, surgical counts, and safe instrument transfer to optimize OR efficiency and patient safety
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, circulating nurses, perfusionists, and multidisciplinary OR staff to ensure excellent patient outcomes
• Participate in rotational call coverage, demonstrating adaptability, strong communication, and attention to detail in a high-acuity environment
