Job Requirements / Qualifications

• Active RN license required (valid in Pennsylvania)
• Minimum 1 year of inpatient adolescent psychiatric experience (ages 14–17) required
• Experience or comfort working with geriatric behavioral health patients preferred
• BLS certification required
• De-escalation training/certification required (SAFE Training Course available onsite if needed)
• Ability to float between adolescent and geriatric behavioral health units

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, compassionate psychiatric nursing care to adolescent and geriatric patients in an inpatient behavioral health setting
• Assess mental health status, administer medications per protocol, and monitor patient safety and progress
• Implement and uphold the philosophy, goals, and standards of the Department of Nursing
• Participate in staffing, scheduling, and supervision of unit personnel as needed
• Coordinate orientation and ongoing education for staff members; support clinical training for new hires and travel nurses
• Foster positive relationships with interdisciplinary teams (psychiatrists, therapists, social workers) and promote a collaborative work environment
• Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment, utilizing de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention strategies when appropriate
• Promote positive public relations as a representative of the Nursing Department and the travel nursing team
