- Setting: Hospital – Respiratory Therapy Unit (acute care, inpatient & outpatient)

- Shift: 12-hour shifts, 6/8 block schedule; on-call required

Job Requirements
- Current Respiratory Care Practitioner License, State of Maine (or eligibility to obtain) — Maine RRT welcome
- Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential, or eligibility to sit for the RRT exam within one year of start
- Graduate of a CoARC-accredited school for Respiratory Care
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred
- At least 1 year of clinical respiratory therapy experience required (2 years preferred; new graduates considered for select roles)
- Strong knowledge of cardiopulmonary physiology and pulmonary care best practices
- Proficiency in therapeutic respiratory care procedures and equipment: mechanical ventilation (adult, pediatric, neonate), BiPAP/CPAP, oxygen therapy
- Experience with arterial blood gas (ABG) sampling and interpretation, pulmonary function testing (PFTs), EKGs, and basic cardiac arrhythmia interpretation
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality respiratory care and pulmonary support to patients across the lifespan in inpatient and outpatient settings
- Initiate, manage, and wean mechanical ventilation; monitor ventilator settings and patient response
- Perform arterial blood gas sampling and interpretation, pulmonary function testing, and EKGs
- Set up and manage noninvasive ventilation (BiPAP/CPAP) and administer oxygen therapy
- Assist with cardiac stress testing and participate in multidisciplinary patient care rounds
- Respond to acute respiratory emergencies and participate in on-call rotation; provide critical care and rapid response support as needed
- Document respiratory care interventions accurately and collaborate with nursing and medical teams under the supervision of the Respiratory Director and Medical Director
- Attend in-service training and continuing education to maintain licensure and enhance clinical skills in critical care respiratory therapy
