Med/Surg Registered Nurse (Cardiac Stepdown) – Travel Nurse | Rock Island, IL

Travel nursing opportunity: 13-week Med/Surg RN – Cardiac Stepdown contract at a Level 1 Trauma Center in Rock Island, IL (Quad Cities). Join a progressive care team caring for cardiac and step-down patients in a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment.

Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,200 - $2,320
• Location: Rock Island, IL 61201 (Quad Cities area) — Illinois nursing job
• Setting: Cardiac Stepdown Unit (RI 7N) — telemetry / progressive care
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks (May 18, 2026 – August 17, 2026)
• Shift: 12-hour days (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Employment Type: Travel Nurse / On-site

Job Requirements

• Minimum 2 years recent Med/Surg and Cardiac Stepdown / telemetry RN experience (progressive care or step-down preferred)
• Active RN license in Illinois required; Iowa license accepted on offer
• BLS and ACLS certifications from AHA (required)
• Hands-on experience with chest tubes, femstops, tracheostomies, CBIs, drains, and central lines
• Proficiency administering and titrating cardiac/hemodynamic medications (Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitroglycerin, Insulin, Heparin, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Isuprel, Milrinone, Argatroban)
• Familiarity with telemetry monitoring and hemodynamic assessment
• Experience with EPIC EMR or similar electronic charting systems
• At least one completed travel contract preferred
• Not employed by UnityPoint within the last 12 months
• Must have a taxable address located outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
• Submission requirements: Driver’s license, current resume/work history, skills checklist (completed within 1 year), license verification, copies of required certifications, and one supervisory reference

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, high-quality patient care in the Cardiac Stepdown (progressive care/telemetry) unit
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapy, case management) to manage and monitor cardiac patients
• Perform and monitor specialized procedures: chest tubes, drains, central lines, tracheostomy care, continuous bladder irrigations
• Administer, titrate, and monitor cardiac and vasoactive medications per protocol
• Perform telemetry monitoring, hemodynamic assessments, and timely clinical interventions
• Document patient care accurately in EPIC EMR and follow hospital protocols
• Float within the same discipline across local campuses as needed
• Participate in orientation and ongoing training to support clinical competencies
