Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,690 – $1,820
• Location: Atlantic, IA 50022 — Iowa surgical technologist jobs / travel surgical tech jobs
• Assignment Duration: 8 weeks (April 22, 2026 – June 17, 2026)
• Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
• Shift: Monday–Friday, 6:45 AM – 3:15 PM; rotating on-call with 30-minute response time
• Employment Type: Travel, On-site (Operating Room)
• Shift Duration: 8 hours

Job Requirements

• Minimum 1 year experience as a Surgical Technologist in a hospital or OR setting (perioperative experience preferred)
• Certification: CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) or relevant surgical technologist certification preferred
• Working knowledge of AORN recommended practices, sterile technique, and perioperative fundamentals
• Ability to respond to call within 30 minutes
• Strong teamwork, communication, and time-management skills for fast-paced OR environments

Responsibilities

• Provide perioperative support to the RN and surgical team, assisting with limited direct patient care in the operating room
• Prepare, handle, and pass instruments, supplies, and equipment for a variety of surgical procedures (general, orthopedics, gynecology, etc.)
• Anticipate the surgeon's needs and maintain knowledge of common procedures to improve OR efficiency
• Set up, maintain, and protect a sterile field throughout procedures in accordance with AORN and facility protocols
• Clean, prepare, and package instruments for disinfection and sterilization; assist with sterile processing tasks when needed
• Assist with room turnover between cases, including cleaning, restocking, and preparing the environment for the next patient
• Uphold patient safety standards and maintain required clinical competencies based on scope and training
• Adhere to departmental policies, AORN guidelines, and facility protocols
• Demonstrate responsibility in time management, resource use, and supply handling
• Participate as a collaborative and supportive team member in a fast-paced OR environment
• Perform other duties as assigned
