Job Details

• Position: Cardiac Stepdown RN / Cardiac Telemetry Nurse (Travel Nurse)
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,000 – $2,100
• Assignment Duration: 13 weeks
• Setting: Intermediate Care Unit (IMU) – Cardiac Stepdown / Telemetry
• Shift: 12-hour nights; weekends as scheduled
• Hours: 36 hours per week (guaranteed)
• Location: Wheeling, WV 26003 — West Virginia travel nursing / RN jobs in Wheeling

Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (willing to wait for license if needed)
• Minimum 1 year recent experience in a cardiac stepdown, telemetry, or intermediate care setting
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required
• Strong cardiac telemetry skills — able to read and interpret cardiac telemetry strips
• Experience titrating drips (Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Labetalol, Nitro, Heparin; occasional Lasix)
• Ability and flexibility to float to Telemetry or Med-Surg units as needed
• Compliance with 50-mile radius rule — must submit unexpired driver’s license

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality cardiac nursing care for patients with chest pain, CHF, arrhythmias, post-pacemaker, pre/post caths, and other intermediate acuity diagnoses
• Continuous telemetry monitoring and rapid recognition of changes in cardiac rhythms (cardiac telemetry nurse responsibilities)
• Perform vascular site assessments (groin checks), manage radial bands, and oversee patients on Tikosyn therapy
• Titrate vasoactive drips and manage cardiac medications per protocols
• Collaborate with hospitalists, intensivists, cardiology teams, and multidisciplinary staff to ensure safe patient transitions
• Accurate and timely charting using Sunrise EMR and adherence to documentation standards
• Participate in self-scheduling and meet weekend coverage requirements; maintain unit policies and uniform standards (navy blue scrubs)
