• Location: Abilene, TX 79601 — Abilene, Texas surgical nursing job
• Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 5/18/2026 – End: 8/17/2026)
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,350 – $2,470
• Shift: 5x8-Hour Days (06:30 – 15:00), Monday to Friday, with call and late days as required
• Hours per Week: 40
• Patient Population: Adolescents, Adults, Pediatrics, Geriatrics
• Orientation: 40 hours (includes 6-8 hours of modules)

OR RN Job Requirements & Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (must be in hand at submission)
• Minimum 2 years of recent Operating Room RN experience — perioperative/surgical nurse background required
• Craniotomy and burr hole experience is required (neuro OR/spine experience highly preferred)
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS (CNOR preferred)
• Experience with Allscripts or Altera electronic charting systems preferred
• Previous charge RN, trauma Level I/II, and travel nursing experience preferred
• Ability to complete required labs within 72 hours of offer acceptance
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered); COVID-19 vaccine not required
• Must pass facility drug screen upon arrival (includes marijuana)

Responsibilities — Operating Room / Perioperative Nurse

• Provide direct patient care in the main Operating Room covering neuro/spine, ortho/trauma, general surgery, and robotics cases
• Demonstrate proficiency in craniotomy and burr hole procedures and neuro cases
• Assist with a wide range of surgical procedures: amputations, spinal fusions, joint replacements, trauma surgeries, and more
• Maintain perioperative standards: sterile technique, instrument counts, and intraoperative documentation
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including IV therapy, PT, RT, pharmacy, radiology, and surgical techs
• Participate in call rotation and cover late days as needed
• Utilize electronic charting systems to maintain accurate documentation and support quality care initiatives
• Support patient safety, infection control, and performance improvement efforts in the OR
