Join a dynamic Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) team in the heart of Washington, DC. This 13-week travel nursing contract offers advanced cardiac care experience, opportunities to work with mechanical circulatory support and ECMO, and close collaboration with a multidisciplinary critical care team. CVICU Travel Nurse Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,900 - $2,000
- Location: Washington, DC 20010 (Washington, DC)
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- Hours per Week: 36
- Shift: Rotating Day/Night, 12-hour shifts; 3 shifts per week (06:30 - 19:00 & 19:00 - 06:30)
- Start Date: 6/8/2026 or 5/26/2026
- Patient Ratio: 2:1
- Unit Size: 32 beds, daily census 25-32
Job Requirements (CVICU RN / Cardiac ICU RN)
- Minimum 2 years of recent CVICU or Cardiac ICU experience
- Travel nursing experience preferred
- Active DC RN license (pending accepted at submission; must be active prior to start)
- ACLS & BLS certifications required
- Must pass Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam (80% overall, 100% on lethal rhythms)
- Ability to float to ICU and IMC units as needed
- Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
- Availability for every other weekend and holidays as needed
- Two supervisor references required
Core Responsibilities (Critical Care Nurse / ICU RN)
- Provide expert care to adult and geriatric patients recovering from cardiac and major vascular surgeries
- Manage advanced cardiac devices and therapies: VAD, Cmag, CRRT, Swan-Ganz PA catheters, temporary pacing, IABP, ECMO
- Perform arterial line management, chest tube assistance, blood product administration, and ventilator management
- Interpret arterial blood gases and dysrhythmias; titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips per protocol
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Therapy, Pharmacy, and Social Services
- Maintain infection prevention protocols, isolation precautions, and unit safety standards
- Float to ICU and IMC units as required to support patient care
- Complete orientation and facility/unit-specific modules within one week of contract signing
