Job Requirements (Qualifications)

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina or an active Compact RN license — NC nursing jobs
• Current BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg nursing experience in a hospital setting
• Proficiency with IV insertion and basic bedside procedures
• Travel nursing experience preferred for fast onboarding
• Ability to assist providers with bedside procedures and use common hospital equipment
• Must comply with facility 80-mile radius rule
• Flexibility to float to other nursing areas as needed by census (cross-training beneficial)

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to general Med/Surg patients, including COPD exacerbations, acute renal failure, sepsis, UTI, pneumonia, and post-operative care
• Manage assigned nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5-6 and prioritize safe, patient-centered care
• Perform and assist with procedures such as IV insertion, peritoneal dialysis care, chest tube management, wound VACs, tracheostomy care, and other bedside interventions
• Administer medications including heparin, cardiac medications, insulin, and TPN/PPN per facility protocols
• Operate and monitor equipment such as Alaris IV pumps, feeding pumps, SCD devices, and other common clinical technology
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team (physicians, therapists, social work) using a teamwork approach to optimize patient outcomes
• Document accurate patient care and clinical assessments using EPIC electronic charting
• Float to other units as required by census and facility needs to support staffing
