NICU Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel Nursing Assignment in Madison, WI. 13-week Level IV NICU travel contract at a Magnet-designated pediatric medical center; Level IV NICU experience and travel nursing background required.

- Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 05/18/2026 – End: 08/17/2026)
- Shifts: Rotating 12-hour shifts (Day: 7:00am–7:30pm, Night: 7:00pm–7:30am), 3 shifts per week
- Weekly Hours: 36
- Weekend Requirement: 2–3 weekends per 6-week schedule (4–6 weekend shifts per contract)
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,020 – $2,130
Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of total NICU III/IV experience, including at least 1 full year in a Level IV NICU (within the last 3 years)
- Previous travel nursing experience required (NICU travel nurse preferred)
- Active WI RN license or compact state license (must be in hand at submission) — Wisconsin nursing license
- BLS and NRP certifications (AHA required) — neonatal resuscitation experience
- Clinical experience with post-op neonatal patients, g-tubes, tracheostomy/vent management, and multiple modes of invasive/noninvasive ventilation
- Proficiency with Epic EMR / Epic charting system
- Ability to float to all AFCH pediatric units, including PICU, for patients less than 12 months of age
- Pass/Fail telemetry exam required prior to start (strict criteria)
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered); COVID-19 vaccine not required
Primary Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive, family-centered nursing care to high-acuity neonates and infants in a 26-bed Level IV NICU
- Manage complex medical and surgical neonatal patients, including advanced ventilator management, post-surgical care, and specialized therapies
- Administer medications and blood products; perform advanced procedures such as arterial line management, central line care, and ventilator troubleshooting
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary pediatric team: neonatologists, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, social workers, and surgeons
- Provide education and emotional support to families from admission through discharge—strong family communication skills expected
- Float to other pediatric units (including PICU) as needed; provide safe care for infants under 12 months
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in Epic EMR and adhere to hospital policies and quality standards
