Job Details

• Location: Austin, TX 78705 — Austin healthcare job in a vibrant city known for live music and outdoor lifestyle
• Assignment Type: Travel Nurse, 13 weeks
• Start Date: May 4, 2026
• End Date: August 3, 2026
• Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), rotating weekends, no call required
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,350 – $1,420
• Unit: Newborn Nursery (40-bed, 3rd Floor, Acute Hospital Building)
• Patient Ratios: 1:5 or 1:6
• EMR: CPN and Meditech
• Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs

Job Requirements / Qualifications

• Active RN license (Texas or compact state)
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a Newborn Nursery or NICU setting; neonatal nursing experience preferred
• BLS certification (AHA)
• Strong ability to multi-task, adapt quickly, and thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
• Excellent communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills
• Preferred: 2+ years of newborn care experience; NRP preferred but not required

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate newborn care in a 40-bed Newborn Nursery
• Monitor and assess infants, administer medications, and document care in CPN and Meditech EMR systems
• Assist with common nursery procedures, including circumcisions and routine newborn assessments
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of RNs, support staff, and physicians in maternity and neonatal services
• Maintain patient safety, adhere to unit policies, and support infection control practices
• Educate and support new parents and families on newborn care, feeding, and discharge planning
• Demonstrate flexibility and teamwork during rotating weekends and night shift duties
