- Setting: Acute Care – Electrophysiology Lab (EP Lab)
- Shifts: 4 x 10-hour day shifts per week; rotating call on weekends and nights
- Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,820 – $2,970 (competitive travel RN pay)
- Charting System: EPIC
- Department Size: 11 employees, including 4 Electrophysiologists
- Procedure Rooms: 2 dedicated EP procedure rooms
- Procedure Volume: 5–10 procedures performed per day
- Orientation: 12 hours (non-billable; guaranteed hours do not apply during orientation)
- Call-Off Policy: OSF allows the equivalent of 12 hours every 13 weeks with no penalty or requirement to pay for the shift
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois or willingness to obtain licensure (compact and state RN candidates welcome)
- BLS certification (AHA required); ACLS preferred
- Minimum 1 year recent EP Lab, cardiac catheterization lab, or similar acute care experience
- Strong knowledge of sterile technique, radiation safety, and radiologic procedures
- Experience with EP procedures (e.g., ablation, device implants, mapping) and cardiac monitoring
- Ability to participate in rotating call including weekends and nights
- Must pass a comprehensive drug screen (drug-free campus)
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist electrophysiologists and cardiologists during EP procedures, including cardiac ablations and device implants
- Prepare procedure rooms, set up sterile fields, and position patients according to protocol
- Operate and assist with radiology and EP equipment, ensuring adherence to radiation safety guidelines
- Pass instruments and supplies, manage specimens, take exposures, and document procedure details in EPIC
- Provide direct patient care, pre- and post-procedure monitoring, and patient education for adult patients
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes and maintain high standards of cardiac care
