Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical-Surgical in Saint Johnsbury, Vermont

Travel Nursing Job Details

• Employment Type: 13-week travel registered nurse contract
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,110–$2,220
• Location: Saint Johnsbury, Vermont
• Unit: General medical-surgical unit serving primarily adult patients, with occasional pediatric patients
• Schedule: Three 12-hour night shifts per week; 36 hours weekly
• Shift: 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.; every other weekend required
• Start Date: As soon as possible, no later than November 11, 2026; traveler starts are on Wednesdays
• Orientation: During orientation week, contracts scheduled for 48 hours may be guaranteed 36 hours because of the midweek start

Medical-Surgical RN Job Requirements

• At least 3 years of recent acute care registered nursing experience
• Current Vermont RN license or valid compact RN license
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Seasonal influenza vaccination required
• Meditech experience preferred
• Ability to care for adult patients and occasional pediatric patients; pediatric-only RN experience does not meet the needs of this assignment
• Reliable personal transportation is required due to the rural location and limited public transportation and rideshare availability
• All required credentials must be submitted at least five business days before the start date

Travel RN Responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver comprehensive nursing care for patients on a general medical-surgical unit
• Care for patients across medical-surgical, orthopedic, outpatient, observation, swing-bed, and occasional pediatric populations
• Apply the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care
• Address patients’ physiological, psychosocial, spiritual, developmental, and age-specific needs
• Collaborate with providers, nursing leadership, and interdisciplinary team members to promote safe, effective outcomes
• Recognize changes in patient condition and take appropriate clinical action
• Provide patient and family education while supporting continuity of care
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and follow applicable nursing standards and protocols
