Emergency Department RN Requirements

• Minimum three years of recent Emergency Department RN or emergency room nursing experience
• Current Vermont RN license or compact multistate RN license
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
• TNCC certification preferred
• Experience caring for patients with a broad range of acute illnesses, injuries, and emergency conditions
• Strong clinical judgment, prioritization, communication, and critical-thinking skills
• Ability to work independently and effectively in a rural emergency care setting
• Familiarity with Meditech preferred, with the ability to learn electronic medical record systems quickly
• All required credentialing documentation must be submitted at least five business days before the scheduled start date
• Flu vaccination is required

Emergency Nursing Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients presenting with acute illnesses, injuries, and medical emergencies.
• Rapidly assess, triage, prioritize, and reassess patients based on changing clinical needs.
• Deliver safe, timely interventions while managing multiple patients in a dynamic emergency department.
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, EMS personnel, and inpatient teams to coordinate patient-centered care.
• Recognize changes in patient condition and respond promptly using sound clinical judgment.
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, medications, and patient outcomes.
• Follow evidence-based emergency nursing practices, regulatory standards, and departmental policies.
• Support a collaborative, respectful, and safety-focused care environment.
