Travel Nursing Job Details

Position: Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse (PCU RN)
Location: Morehead City, North Carolina
Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,730–$1,820
Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing contract
Start Date: November 16, 2026
Schedule: Three 12-hour night shifts per week
Shift Hours: 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
Weekend Requirement: Every third weekend
Call: Not required
Orientation: 16 hours
Floating: As needed within scope of practice

PCU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

At least 2 years of recent Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or stepdown nursing experience
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state or a valid compact nursing license
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
Availability to work 12-hour night shifts and every third weekend
Applicants must meet the applicable 50-mile radius requirement; local candidates are not eligible
COVID-19 and influenza vaccination are required, with medical or religious exemptions considered according to assignment requirements

Progressive Care Nursing Responsibilities

Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care to patients in a progressive care or stepdown unit
Monitor patients with complex medical needs and promptly recognize changes in condition
Administer medications and treatments while maintaining accurate clinical documentation
Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care
Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, medications, and discharge planning
Prioritize care effectively during overnight shifts and respond to evolving patient needs
Float to other appropriate hospital areas as needed and within the RN’s scope of practice
