CVICU Travel Nursing Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,250–$2,370
• Position Type: Travel Registered Nurse contract

• Schedule: Three 12-hour day shifts per week, approximately 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.
• Weekly Hours: 36 hours
• Patient Ratio: 1:2 on days, nights, and weekends
• Weekend Requirement: Every third weekend; approximately four weekend shifts during the contract
• Call Requirement: None indicated
• Scheduling: Self-scheduling; block scheduling is not available
• Orientation: Approximately 36 hours
• Charting: Epic
• Float Requirement: May float within scope to MICU or STU/NEU based on unit needs

CVICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse license and ability to meet Pennsylvania practice requirements
• At least 2 years of strong cardiovascular ICU or CVICU nursing experience
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Experience caring for adult patients after CABG, valve repair or replacement, cardiac catheterization, PCI, and other cardiac procedures
• Strong dysrhythmia interpretation and management skills, including 12-lead EKG/ECG interpretation
• Experience with multisystem organ dysfunction or failure, acute and chronic renal failure, and CRRT/CVVHD
• Demonstrated proficiency with cardiac and vasoactive drip titration, invasive hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator management, and blood product administration
• Experience with arterial lines, central lines, PICC lines, CVP monitoring, and Swan-Ganz or pulmonary artery catheters
• Experience managing advanced cardiac support and critical care equipment, including ECMO, IABP, Impella, CRRT, temporary pacemakers, and mechanical ventilators
• Willingness to complete required onboarding, clinical assessment, health screening, background requirements, and facility compliance before the start date

CVICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill adult patients in a cardiovascular intensive care unit
• Care for patients with post-operative CABG, valve repair or replacement, aortic aneurysm or dissection, cardiogenic shock, acute myocardial infarction, acute heart failure, respiratory failure, and complex cardiac arrhythmias
• Manage patients requiring advanced mechanical circulatory support, including ECMO, IABP, and Impella therapy
• Perform continuous assessment, monitoring, and intervention for patients receiving mechanical ventilation, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, continuous sedation, and neuromuscular blockade
• Titrate cardiac, vasoactive, insulin, sedation, and emergency medication infusions according to patient condition and established protocols
• Monitor arterial pressure, CVP, pulmonary artery pressures, cardiac rhythms, ABGs, intake and output, and urine output
• Provide care for temporary pacing wires, chest drainage systems, central and arterial lines, PICC lines, and other invasive devices
• Support pre- and post-cardiac catheterization and intervention care, post-PCI care, and immediate post-open-heart surgery recovery
• Administer blood products and prescribed therapies while maintaining appropriate isolation and safety precautions
• Collaborate with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, IV teams, rapid response services, physical therapy, radiology, and other interdisciplinary partners
• Float to comparable units within scope when needed to support safe patient care
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in Epic
