Opportunity:
RN MS/Oncology- SURGICAL ONCOLOGY UNIT
Job Details:
• Work rotating shifts with various days of the week
• Weekend coverage required per unit needs with 12-14 weekend shifts per contract
• No on-call responsibilities
• 24 hours of orientation provided
• 2 years of acute care experience required
• Teaching hospital experience required (hard stop requirement)
• First-time travelers accepted if they have teaching hospital experience
• Must be comfortable with 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratios that may flex up based on staffing and unit needs
• Floating required within scope and may float to sister facilities based on facility needs
• Required certifications: AHA BLS
• Colorado or Compact RN license required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Oncology skills checklist required
• Navy scrubs required
• Maximum 10 RTO days approved per 13-week contract
• RTO not allowed during specified blackout periods
• Complete facility-specific modules within first week of assignment
• Provide post-operative care for patients with cancer diagnoses recovering from surgical interventions
• Care for patients with abdominal or pelvic area procedures including gynecologic oncology, colorectal, pancreatic, liver, and stomach surgeries
• No chemotherapy or biotherapy administration on this unit
• Work with adult patients in a 36-bed unit with daily census of 33

This academic medical campus features a specialized 36-bed surgical oncology unit that provides comprehensive post-operative care for cancer patients. The facility is a teaching hospital that incorporates innovative technology into everyday workflows and offers extensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, and rapid response teams. The unit focuses specifically on patients recovering from surgical interventions to manage cancer-related conditions, with specialty care tailored toward abdominal and pelvic procedures.
