Opportunity:

RN - ICU

Job Details:

• 12-hour shifts available as day shift (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM) or night shift (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• Day/Night rotation schedule with every other weekend required
• Holiday rotation required
• No on-call or standby requirement for agency staff
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2-3, with some lower acuity patients
• 8-bed ICU unit providing primary care nursing
• Common diagnoses include sepsis, general medical, general surgical, stroke (TNK), DKA, pneumonia, ETOH withdrawal, and post-cath recovery (radial/femoral sites)
• ICU RNs are expected to run codes within the facility
• Required to titrate drips including Levo, Neo, Propofol, Fentanyl, Precedex, Insulin, and TNK; some medication mixing required
• Responsible for telemetry strips; no monitor tech on unit (GE Carescape and Airstrip Technology)
• Floating may be required to MedSurg, Tele, or ER with a full patient load
• 2-year minimum ICU experience required; previous travel experience highly preferred
• Code Blue Command RN and phlebotomy experience are a plus
• Meditech experience a plus
• Illinois nursing license required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Professional scrubs in any color required
• Department-specific orientation consists of 2 twelve-hour shifts with a resource available for documentation
• Charting system: MEDITECH
• BSN not required

Facility:

This acute care facility features an 8-bed ICU unit supported by a hospitalist available 24/7 and in-house during the day. The unit is aligned with a regional health center for EICU support during night hours for 6 of the 8 beds. The facility maintains a charge nurse who takes patient assignments and a patient-free nursing supervisor, along with care support staff including unit secretaries and CNAs based on acuity needs. Respiratory therapy equipment is available on the unit, and the facility supports a collaborative approach to patient care with tele nurses available to assist during code situations.
