Opportunity:
RN - Emergency Department
Job Details:
• Assess, reassess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing interventions, plans of care, and patient goals
• Provide patient care based on standards of care, standards of practice, protocols, and established policies and procedures
• Perform and document initial assessments upon patient arrival and implement triage protocols as needed
• Safely administer medications and intravenous therapy in accordance with physician orders, protocols, and policies
• Administer vasoactive medications demonstrating understanding of dosage, action, use, side effects, and titration parameters
• Perform accurate and timely identification of cardiac arrhythmias
• Institute, monitor, and document thrombolytic and anticoagulation therapy standards and protocols
• Accurately interpret arterial blood gases, pulse oximetry, and clinical features of impaired gas exchange
• Demonstrate skills associated with initiation and maintenance of intubated patients including suctioning, troubleshooting, and weaning
• Assess and reassess patient pain levels using numerical pain scale and notify physicians as needed
• Identify patients at risk for potential or alleged abuse and initiate safety plans as appropriate
• Complete required mandated reporting for domestic violence, child and elder abuse, stabbings, gunshot wounds, burns, and sexual assault cases
• Collect and document forensic evidence and maintain chain of evidence per policy
• Identify patients at risk for violent behavior and implement non-violent intervention protocols
• Provide patient and family teaching based on identified learning needs and barriers to learning
• Collaborate on discharge planning incorporating support systems and resources as necessary
• Delegate and supervise nursing interventions performed by others appropriately
• Maintain knowledge of Disaster Policy and Procedure
• Minimum 3-5 years of emergency department experience preferred
• Associate degree in nursing required, Bachelor of Science in nursing preferred
• Current Massachusetts RN license required
• ACLS required upon hire or active BLS with AHA ACLS obtained within 60 days of hire
• AHA PALS required within six months of hire
• TNCC, ENPC, and CEN preferred
