Opportunity:

RN - Stepdown

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM or 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM with cyclic scheduling
• Every other weekend requirement
• 1 major and 1 minor holiday requirement
• Nurse to patient ratio of 1:4 on a 22-bed unit
• Nurse aide/patient care tech support available at a 1:10 ratio
• Common patient diagnoses include heart failure, Afib, respiratory distress, and stroke
• RNs required to titrate drips including Cardizem, amiodarone, and nitroglycerin
• RNs required to read and interpret telemetry strips independently
• CPAP equipment management required
• Charge nurse is present on each shift and takes a full patient assignment
• May float to ICU if appropriate experience is present
• 1 orientation shift of 12 hours required in the department
• Charting system: EPIC
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments
• Valid driver's license required at time of submittal
• Must reside more than 50 miles from facility
• Candidates may not be currently employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with any associated CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year
• Pass/fail open book exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90% required
• RTO must be submitted upfront as additional RTO will not be approved after submission

This acute care facility is a Level 3 trauma center providing comprehensive inpatient care across a range of medical specialties. The stepdown unit is a fast-paced environment with frequent admissions and discharges, focusing on cardiac and respiratory patients requiring close monitoring. The facility utilizes EPIC as its charting system and maintains structured scheduling and staffing protocols to support high-quality patient care.
