Opportunity:
RN - Med Tele / Med Tele Neuro 4N
Job Details:
• 12-hour night shifts available: 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM or 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6 on a 55-bed unit
• Typically every other weekend required, with additional coverage possible based on department demand; schedules posted 6 weeks in advance
• 2-3 holidays required from Thanksgiving to New Year's
• 2 days of unit/department-specific orientation required
• Required certification: BLS (AHA); ACLS preferred
• Charting system: EPIC
• Scrub color: Navy Blue for RNs; artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments
• Common diagnoses and patient types include joint replacements, fractures, colon resections, COPD exacerbation, prostatectomy, cellulitis, sepsis, ortho trauma, GI bleeds, pneumonia, and failure to thrive
• Required to titrate drips including Heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine; PCA pumps also used
• Telemetry techs will interpret strips; RNs should maintain some telemetry awareness
• Nurse aides and patient care techs available on unit at a 1:10-20 ratio
• Charge nurse present on each shift and takes an assignment
• Floating may be required to other medical surgical areas or units with MedSurg patients
• Mechanical lifts available in every other room
• Strong focus on hourly rounding and responsiveness
• Unit serves patients of all cultures including Spanish, Karen, and Burmese-speaking patients
• Pass/fail open book exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90% required to pass
• Block scheduling available on a limited basis
• Driver's license required at submittal to verify radius compliance

This acute care facility is a Level 1 Trauma Center offering comprehensive medical and surgical services across multiple specialized units.
