Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts on an every other weekend (EOW) schedule
• First to float when required
• 4-week scheduling cycles
• Weekend requirement: 1 full weekend every 3 weeks
• Holiday requirement: 1 major and 1 minor holiday
• On-call requirement: 18 hours per 4-week schedule
• No floating requirements outside of being first to float
• Hospital laundered scrubs provided
• Work in a Level II maternity unit caring for patients down to 32 weeks gestational age
• Unit consists of 16 LDRPs, 2 OB ORs, and 6 triage rooms with approximately 1,000 births per year
• Nurse-to-patient ratios follow AWHONN guidelines
• Responsibilities include EFM interpretation, sterile vaginal exams (SVEs), IV starts, and managing Magnesium Sulfate
• Required to titrate drips including Pitocin
• Read and interpret EFM tracings using the Fetalink system
• CPAP management required; ventilator initiation and transport out of unit may be necessary
• Charting completed using Cerner PowerChart Maternity EHR
• OB Techs and front desk schedulers available on unit
• Charge nurse and house supervisor support available
• Pass/fail sterile technique test for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes required on first day of orientation
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA), Intermediate Fetal Monitoring (non-AWHONN accepted)
• Hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment or 3 shifts for assignments less than 13 weeks

Facility:

This acute care facility operates a well-equipped Labor and Delivery unit with 16 LDRP rooms, 2 dedicated OB operating suites, and 6 triage rooms, delivering approximately 1,000 babies per year. The unit functions as a Level II maternity center capable of caring for patients as early as 32 weeks gestational age, supported by OB and neonatology specialists available on call around the clock. The facility provides hospital-laundered scrubs, utilizes Cerner PowerChart Maternity for electronic health records, and maintains AWHONN-compliant nurse-to-patient ratios to ensure high-quality patient care.
