Opportunity:

RN - ER/ED Float

Job Details:

• 12-hour day shifts with every other weekend requirement
• Every other holiday requirement
• No on-call or standby requirement
• Float position within Zone 4 (60-mile radius based around Garden City, KS) covering three facilities
• There is no home base facility - float assignments will be communicated on or before your Monday start date
• Travelers are responsible for obtaining housing that makes floating throughout the full 60-mile zone feasible
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5 based on acuity
• Treat 6-49 patients per day depending on location
• Common diagnoses include abdominal pain, diabetes, NSTEMI, pneumonia, trauma, stroke, and hypertension
• Administer standard ER medications and common drips
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry independently (no monitor techs available)
• Will be trained and perform point-of-care lab testing
• Respiratory therapy available 24/7
• Charge nurse takes an assignment; tech support available to assist nurses and with triage
• Charting system: EPIC
• 2-3 days of unit/department-specific orientation required; must be in state for the week of orientation
• Scrub color: Navy Blue
• BSN not required
• Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), ENPC or PALS, NIHSS, TNCC

Facility:

This float pool assignment covers three acute care emergency departments within a 60-mile radius, all of which are non-trauma designated facilities with STEMI receiving and stroke center capabilities, with complex cases sent out as needed. The emergency departments operate with mixed holds, no dedicated psych or seclusion rooms, and varying numbers of beds and trauma bays depending on the location. Each facility provides a collaborative care environment with tech support, 24/7 respiratory therapy, and physician and mid-level provider coverage.
