Opportunity:

RN - ICU

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM based on staffing needs
• Night shift hours are 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM with every other weekend required
• Holiday rotation required
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2-3 with some lower acuity patients
• 8-bed ICU unit with primary care nursing model
• Common diagnoses include sepsis, general medical and surgical cases, stroke (TNK), DKA, pneumonia, ETOH withdrawal, and post cath recovery at radial/femoral sites
• Required to titrate drips including Levo, Neo, Propofol, Fentanyl, Precedex, Insulin, and TNK
• ICU RNs are expected to run codes within the facility
• EICU at night for 6 of the 8 beds aligned with UW Health center
• Responsible for telemetry strips with no monitor tech available; GE Carescape and Airstrip Technology used
• Respiratory therapy equipment available on unit
• Charge nurse takes patient assignment; nursing supervisor is patient-free
• CNA and unit secretary support available based on acuity
• Hospitalist available 24/7 and in-house during the day
• Floating requirements to MedSurg, Tele, and ER with full patient load
• 2-year minimum ICU experience required; previous travel experience highly preferred
• Code Blue Command RN and phlebotomy experience are a plus
• Meditech experience a plus; charting system is MEDITECH
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Illinois nursing license required
• BSN not required
• Professional scrubs in any color required
• Department-specific orientation consists of 2 twelve-hour shifts with a resource available for documentation

This acute care facility features an 8-bed ICU unit with a primary care nursing model and robust support services. The unit is equipped with advanced monitoring technology and maintains 24/7 hospitalist coverage. The facility operates a collaborative care environment that includes telemetry support, respiratory therapy, and an EICU program aligned with a major health center for overnight coverage.
