Opportunity:

RN - Emergency Room

Job Details:

• Deliver general nursing care utilizing the nursing process either directly or through appropriate delegation of duties to supervised staff members
• Assess patients' needs for care and initiate nursing care plans involving patients, families, and others as indicated
• Establish realistic patient goals, identify teaching needs, and address discharge concerns
• Participate in direct care and administration of prescribed medications and treatments including fluid and respiratory therapy treatments
• Demonstrate ability to perform technical skills and utilize equipment within areas of assignment
• Apply and enforce infection control policies and procedures
• Organize time, effort, and energy in rendering patient care while exercising judgment in establishing priorities
• Recognize and interpret symptoms, report patient conditions, and assist with or institute remedial measures for adverse developments
• Communicate significant information accurately to physicians and other health team members
• Take appropriate action in stressful, unusual, or emergency situations
• Initiate patient teaching by assessing patient and family knowledge of disease and establishing realistic objectives
• Assist with orientation and continued learning of new staff members
• Assume charge nurse responsibilities when assigned, promoting positive attitude and productivity among staff
• Coordinate shift activities of assigned staff to ensure continuity of nursing service
• Maintain good interpersonal relationships and assure confidentiality to preserve the integrity of the nursing staff
• Current registration as a licensed nurse in the State of South Dakota required
• Current CPR Certification required
• Must obtain ACLS and PALS Certification within six months of hire
• TNCC certification required for solo Emergency Room coverage within 6 months of hire
