Opportunity:

RN - Med/Surg

Job Details:

• 12-hour day shifts from 6:45 AM to 7:15 AM
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend required; night shift weekends are Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
• Holiday requirement: rotates with regular staff
• No on-call or standby requirement
• Floating to other units as a tasker or extra set of hands is required
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of no more than 5 patients per nurse
• Unit accommodates both RN and LPN staff with 3 nurse aides per shift
• Common diagnoses include chest pain, CHF, pneumonia, abdominal pain, pancreatitis, orthopedic cases, detox, post-operative surgery, and pediatric patients
• Unit does not manage laboring mothers or titrating cardiac or insulin drips
• Strong med/surg background required due to variety of patient types
• ICU monitors readings are faxed to the med/surg nurse for documentation; RNs are not required to read their own strips
• RT manages CPAP, BiPap, and high-flow oxygen equipment
• House supervisor manages assignments for nurses and aides; no charge nurse on unit
• EPIC experience required for charting
• Scrub color requirement: any color except camouflage or orange
• 3 to 5 days of on-unit orientation training provided
• Extra shifts may be available; manager is open to working with block scheduling preferences
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA), NIHSS (required for all RNs and LPNs); ACLS and PALS recommended but not required
• BSN not required
• Valid driver's license copy required with submission
