Opportunity:

RN - Special Care Nursery (SCN)

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• 3 weekend shifts per schedule (month) required, which include Fridays or Saturdays and one Sunday
• One major and one minor holiday required if it falls within the assignment
• No on-call requirements
• May float to sister facility, Chandler Regional Medical Center NICU
• Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required
• Level 2 NICU experience required; Level 3 NICU experience preferred
• Required certifications: NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), BLS
• Dress code: Navy blue scrubs
• Self-scheduling available
• 2-shift unit-specific orientation
• Charting system: Cerner
• BSN not required
• Care for neonates 32 weeks gestational age and above in a 12-bed Level II Special Care Nursery
• Typical patient diagnoses include CPAP, high flow, feeder growers, rule out sepsis, and hyperbilirubinemia
• Typical patient ratio is 3:1, with 2:1 depending on acuity
• RNs are responsible for starting all of their own IVs; certified neonatal PICC team available
• RNs are not required to titrate drips
• Pass/fail Sim Lab assessment for foley catheter insertion required on Day 1 of orientation
• Charge nurse attends high-risk deliveries and manages the shift without a typical patient assignment
• NNPs available in-house 24/7 with pediatrician coverage and on-call support 24 hours

Facility:

This acute care facility operates a 12-bed Level II Special Care Nursery averaging 325 deliveries per month with an average census of 10 patients in the Special Care Nursery. The facility provides comprehensive neonatal care with NNPs in-house 24/7, pediatrician coverage around the clock, and a certified neonatal PICC team. The unit is supported by patient care technicians who also serve as health unit coordinators and can assist RNs with neonatal patient care.
