Opportunity:

RN - PCU Cardiac/Intermediate Care

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4 during days and 1:5 during nights; may include mixed medical-surgical and PCU patients
• 4 weekend days required per month (Days: Saturday and Sunday; Nights: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday)
• 3 out of 5 holidays required
• Low census call or standby requirement may apply for full or partial days
• Float to ICU within patient population and medical-surgical floors as needed
• Charge nurse is free of assignment with rare exceptions
• Patient care assistants available with a ratio of 8-12 patients per PCA
• Must have prior PCU, stepdown, or telemetry experience; no first-time travelers accepted
• Must have at least one successfully completed travel assignment
• Experience with TAVR and CABG preferred
• Must be experienced with all common titratable and set-rate drips including amiodarone, cardizem, dobutamine, dopamine, heparin, nitroglycerin, and insulin
• Must be able to independently read telemetry strips; dedicated monitor tech also available
• Experience with BiPAP, high-flow oxygen, and stable trach patients required
• Charting system: EPIC
• Dress code: Navy blue scrubs
• Orientation: 1 day NEO, 1 day clinical education, 1 day floor orientation
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA or APEX), NIHSS
• BSN not required
• Radius rule: Must reside more than 100 miles from facility

This acute care facility is a Level 2 Trauma Center offering a comprehensive range of medical services with a strong focus on cardiac care. The PCU Cardiac/Intermediate Care unit consists of 36 beds and specializes in managing complex cardiac patients including those with CHF, NSTEMI, MI, heart block, TAVR, CABG, and various other high-acuity diagnoses. The facility utilizes EPIC for electronic charting and maintains dedicated support staff including monitor technicians and patient care assistants to ensure quality patient outcomes.
