Opportunity:

RN - PCU Oncology

Job Details:

• 12-hour shifts available on days (6:30 AM - 7:00 PM) and nights (6:30 PM - 7:00 AM)
• Every other weekend required
• Self-scheduling available but balanced to the needs of the unit
• Primary patient population includes adult oncology PCU and trauma PCU patients
• Unit consists of 18 beds
• Patient ratios of 1:4 to 1:5 on both days and nights
• Travelers may float to other Med/Surg and PCU units at the same level of care
• Two days of unit orientation provided
• Minimum 1 year of experience required; first-time travelers accepted
• Oncology experience preferred; strong PCU experience without oncology experience considered
• Charge nurse experience not required
• Comfortable titrating Insulin and Cardizem drips required
• Common drips and medications include chemotherapy, heparin, Cardizem, and Protonix
• Experience with high-flow respiratory equipment required
• Charting system: Epic
• IV Pumps: Alaris
• Lyko lifts available in even-numbered rooms with additional lift equipment available
• Hourly rounding and bedside shift report are key patient experience focuses
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments
• Valid driver's license required at time of submittal
• Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA)
• ONS/ONCC certification preferred but not required
• Chemotherapy certification preferred but not required
• BSN not required

This acute care facility is a Level 1 Trauma Center offering comprehensive medical services including a dedicated PCU Oncology unit. The unit supports a diverse patient population ranging from oncology diagnoses through remission and provides compassionate end-of-life care. Support staff includes nursing assistants, charge nurses, PT/OT, RN case managers, social workers, educators, and dietitians.
