Opportunity:

RN - Med/Surg

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour rotating shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, including days and nights
• Weekend shifts required
• No on-call responsibilities required
• Nurse to patient ratio of typically 4-5:1
• Care for medical patients ranging from early infancy through end of life
• Patient population includes telemetry, surgical, orthopedic, neurological, bariatric, detox (alcohol), and end-of-life care
• Travelers will not be expected to float to other units
• Telemetry patients may be present on the floor, monitored in coordination with ICU
• May care for patients receiving chemotherapy, though floating to the chemo area is not required
• Equipment used includes Pyxis medication dispensing, Meditech, Medscanning, bladder scanner, Accurein, IV and PCA pumps, SCDs, feeding pumps, NG tubes, ostomy, pain block pumps, AccuCheck, and wound vac
• Charting system: MEDITECH
• Minimum 6 months of recent Med/Surg experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS
• Preferred certifications: PALS or ENPC, and Chemotherapy certification
• BSN not required
• Dress code: Navy blue scrubs
• Unit has 16-32 rooms
• Guaranteed hours do not apply during orientation

This acute care facility serves a rural community and handles a wide variety of patient cases that may not typically be seen on a standard medical/surgical floor in an urban setting. The unit operates with 16-32 rooms and supports diverse patient needs including telemetry, surgical, orthopedic, neurological, bariatric, detox, and end-of-life care. The organization is committed to quality patient care and provides thorough onboarding with unit educator-led competency training and preceptor support.
