Opportunity:

Neuro ICU

Job Details:

• Work in a Neuro Intensive Care Unit caring for adult and geriatric patients
• Patient ratio of 2:1 maintained across days, nights, and weekends
• Three weekend shifts required per 4-week schedule
• Holiday availability is required
• Must be willing to float to other ICUs, Med/Surg/Telemetry, and Progressive Care units as needed with no exceptions
• Minimum of 1 year of Med/Surg/Telemetry experience required
• Epic experience within the last 18 months is required and must be clearly documented
• Must have a valid Tennessee or compact RN license
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• Key skills include CVA/Acute Stroke management, ventilator management, ICP monitoring, external ventricular drain (EVD), traumatic brain injury care, arterial line management, central line care/management, continuous IV sedation, titration of vasoactive and cardiac drips, and interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs)
• Additional skills include blood product administration, BiPAP/CPAP management, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun, IV insulin protocols, PICC line management, post neurosurgery management, spinal cord injury care, and procedural sedation administration/monitoring
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
• 36 orientation hours provided
• One pre-approved time off request allowed

Facility:

This facility operates a specialized Neuro Intensive Care Unit with 9 beds, maintaining a low patient census to ensure high-quality individualized care. The unit focuses on complex neurological cases including post-TPA, post-surgical, and stroke patients, with robust interdisciplinary support services available to the care team. The facility is committed to maintaining high standards of patient care and utilizes the Epic electronic health records system throughout its operations.
