Opportunity:

RN - Critical Care Float Pool

Job Details:

• Full-time night shift position with rotating weekends
• Three 12-hour shifts per week
• Float pool position rotating across all ICU areas including Trauma (20 beds), CVICU (10 beds), Burn Unit (10 beds), CMU (41 beds), Neuro Surgical ICU (16 beds), MICU (34 beds), and CVTU (22 beds)
• Nurse to patient ratio: ICU 2:1, CMU 3:1
• Assess, plan, and evaluate patient care needs and carry out physician orders
• Administer prescribed medications, change dressings, clean wounds, and monitor vital signs
• Provide respiratory and ventilator management and monitoring for critically ill patients
• Serve as primary coordinator across all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care
• Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition using computerized documentation systems
• Instruct and educate patients and families
• Assess and coordinate patient discharge planning needs with healthcare team members
• Provide age and culturally appropriate care
• Orient and mentor new staff members
• Follow Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required
• Ability to perform frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, and lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50 pounds required
• 2 years of current acute care hospital critical care experience required
• Current Nevada Registered Nurse license required
• Required certifications: BCLS/ACLS upon hire, NIHSS within 90 days
• Preferred certification: CCRN
• Passing score on Critical Care Test and Rhythm Interpretation Examination required
• BSN preferred; ASN accepted if enrolled in BSN program
• Strong critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment required
• Experience with drip titration and management of critically ill patients strongly preferred
• Ability to multitask with limited direction and flexibility required
• No new graduates will be considered
• This is a union facility
