Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays
• Additional shift options available: 11:00 AM to 11:30 PM and 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend required
• Every other holiday required
• No on-call or standby requirements
• Float required to other adult medical/surgical nursing units
• 29-bed unit with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4-5 on days and 1:5-6 on nights
• Nursing assistants available on unit with varying ratios by shift
• Common patient diagnoses include orthopedic trauma, vascular conditions, urology, neuro-spine, OB/GYN oncology, and acute medical admissions
• Required to titrate drips following a prescribed nomogram including heparin, nitro, Bivalirudin, Cardizem, and insulin
• Telemetry techs monitor patients 24/7; RNs are not required to read their own strips
• Charge nurse takes assignment on all shifts with house supervisor available on all shifts
• Equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow oxygen therapy; no ventilators; respiratory therapy support is present
• Charting system: Cerner
• No self-scheduling; block scheduling used based on staffing needs
• During night shift hours (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM), RNs carry additional responsibility for vital signs and ADLs
• 1-2 years of acute care nursing experience required
• Scrub color: any color, clean and professional
• Orientation includes 1 day of computer training and 1-2 days of precepted floor orientation
• Required certification: BLS (AHA)
• BSN not required

This is a Level 2 trauma acute care facility offering comprehensive medical and surgical services across a range of specialties. The unit supports a diverse patient population including orthopedic, vascular, urology, neuro-spine, and oncology cases. The facility utilizes Cerner for charting and maintains a structured staffing model with charge nurses, house supervisors, nursing assistants, and respiratory therapy support available around the clock.
