Job Details:

• Day shift position on a Neuroscience Neurology/Neurosurgical/Telemetry unit
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call required
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Float between units as needed to meet unit needs
• Block schedules not required
• 48-hour weeks not approved
• 36 orientation hours required
• Charting system: Epic (required, hard stop)
• Scrub color: Any color for RNs
• No parking fee
• At least 1 year of experience required
• Must be comfortable with the NIH stroke scale, neurology diagnoses, and neurosurgery patients
• Must be comfortable working on a heavy neuro unit
• May be expected to float between sister facilities nearby contracted facility
• Must commit to working 3 of the 5 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Required skills: BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac), craniotomy, CVA management, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, neuro stepdown, pre/post neurosurgery, procedural sedation administration/monitoring, spinal cord injury, telemetry, and traumatic brain injury
• Compact license must be in hand at time of submission
• 2 references required covering 1 year within the last 3 years

Facility:

This short-term acute care facility is a Level II Trauma Center and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center with 629 total staffed beds. It operates as a teaching hospital and houses a designated stroke unit with Thrombectomy Capable JCAHO designation, a Spine Center of Excellence with JCAHO designation, and a Level 3 Epilepsy Center (NAEC). The neuroscience unit consists of 48 rooms and 64 beds with a daily census of 48, offering interdisciplinary support including interpretation services.
