Opportunity:

RN - Stepdown

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, 3 shifts per week
• Must work every other weekend, including both Saturday and Sunday
• Must work either Christmas or New Year's holiday, rotating into permanent staff holiday schedule
• Patient ratio of 1:4-5, or 1:6 for MedSurg acuity patients
• 28-bed private room stepdown unit with heavy cardiac focus including dysrhythmias, CVAs, and patients downgraded from ICU
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips; unit also serves as the central monitor station for the entire hospital
• Must be able to titrate drips including Cardizem, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Heparin; insulin is set-rate only; no sedation drips
• Experience with Bipap, Cpap, and High Flow respiratory support required
• Charting system: EPIC (currently transitioning from Cerner)
• Scrub color: Navy blue; jackets, if worn, must also be navy blue
• Two-shift orientation with a preceptor provided
• May float to ICU in a helping hands capacity
• Respiratory therapy and pharmacy support available in-house 24/7
• Hospitalist available in-house 24/7; Intensivist on-site 7 days per week from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• BSN not required
• Valid driver's license copy required at submission

This acute care facility operates a 28-bed private stepdown unit with a strong focus on cardiac patients, including those with dysrhythmias and CVAs, as well as patients transitioning down from the ICU. The unit maintains robust around-the-clock support services including in-house respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and hospitalist coverage. The facility fosters a collaborative environment with strong leadership that prioritizes clear communication and flexible scheduling for staff and travelers.
