Opportunity:

RRT - Respiratory Therapist

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM
• Potential to be scheduled on weekends
• No on-call requirements
• Float between two facilities: Lake Charles and St. Patrick facility
• Work in Level 3 NICU independently with knowledge of ventilators, oscillations, nitric oxide therapy, and drawing from arterial lines
• Attend all C-sections as required
• Intubation skills are a plus
• Work with adult ICU patients requiring knowledge of ventilators and cardiac surgery patients
• Both facilities have full standing emergency rooms
• Patient ratio of approximately 5:1 (5 ventilators per therapist)
• EMR system: EPIC
• Perform pulmonary care for critical, non-critical, and chronically ill adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients under physician direction with minimal supervision
• Perform patient assessments and institute respiratory care plans
• Responsibilities include emergency response (Code Blue and White), airway management, delivery of aerosolized drugs, ventilator management, oral hygiene, airway device placement, BiPAP and CPAP management, oxygen delivery, chest film analysis, blood gas collection and analysis, EKG analysis, and documentation
• Advanced practice skills may include therapeutic gas management, pulmonary function testing, bronchoscopy assist, hemodynamic monitoring, waveform analysis, nocturnal SpO2 evaluation, polysomnography, and transport duties
• May function as Shift Leader or Team Leader
• 1-3 years of experience preferred
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), PALS (AHA)
• RT or RCP License in state of employment required
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by NBRC required
