Description

Job Opportunity: RN Emergency Room (Travel)

Location: Beachwood, Ohio
Facility: Ahuja Medical Center, University Hospitals


Position Details

  • Specialty: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Employment Type: Travel
  • Contract Length: 25 weeks
  • Schedule: Every other weekend and every other holiday required
  • Experience Required: Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department RN experience
  • Note: Blocked schedules cannot be accommodated

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – American Heart Association only
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – American Heart Association only
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) – American Heart Association only
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
  • Permanent RN License – Primary source verification required; temporary licenses not accepted

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): Positive titers within last 15 years or approved booster protocol
  • Varicella: Positive titers within last 15 years or approved booster protocol
  • Hepatitis B: Proof of full series, partial series with declination, or positive titers within 15 years
  • Tdap: Proof of vaccination within past 10 years (declinations not accepted)
  • 2-Step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot): Negative test within last 6 months; annual requirement
  • Fit Test: Completed within 1 year of start (specific approved masks listed)
  • Physical/Health Statement: Pre-employment physical exam within 1 year confirming ability to work without restrictions
  • Influenza Vaccine: Preferred during flu season (Oct-Mar); exemptions require approval
  • COVID-19 Vaccine: Preferred but not required; medical or religious exemptions accepted with documentation

Background & Verification Requirements

  • Criminal Background Check: National and county searches within last 7 years, including SSN trace and NSO
  • Ohio Fingerprints: Required for all Ohio residents (BCI&I check and FBI fingerprint check depending on residency duration)
  • Social Security Trace: If not included in background check, must be completed within 1 year of start
  • National Database Criminal Background Check: For Ohio residents to meet fingerprint requirements
  • OIG Search: Must be completed within 6 months prior to start
  • SAM/EPLS/GSA/OFAC Screening: Must be completed within 6 months prior to start
  • Drug Screen: 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start; instant drug screens not accepted
  • Employment Verification: Verification of employment within last 5 years through third-party; attestations not allowed
  • Education Verification: Highest level of education verified; international equivalency required if applicable

Competency & Training Requirements

  • UHS Competency Exam: Must score at least 80%, completed within 1 year prior to start
  • UHS Core Competencies: Includes HIPAA, Joint Commission-NPSG, OSHA topics; 80% passing score required
  • UHS Skills Checklist: Clinical skill-specific checklist to be completed within 1 year prior to start (initial hire only)
  • UHS Module Completion Certificate: Safety and compliance training modules must be completed prior to clearance
  • UHS Submission Packet: Resume including education and work history, 2 professional references within last 2 years, and completed job application

Additional Requirements

  • Driver's License/State ID: Non-expired photo ID required
  • Badge Photo: Professional headshot (shoulders up, plain background, JPEG format)
  • Positive PPD: If applicable, negative chest X-ray within 5 years and current TB questionnaire required

This position requires strict adherence to credentialing, health, and compliance standards to ensure patient safety and regulatory compliance.
