Travel RN Step Down Nurse Opportunity

Job Description

• Schedule: Every Other Week (EOW) and Every Other Weekend (EOH)
• Requires 2 years of experience in PCU / Med-Surg Telemetry Acute Care
• Placement on unit with greatest need: PCU, Med-Surg, or Telemetry based on skills
• Accepts RN with Med-Surg or Stepdown experience (same credentialing for both)
• Must be willing to float onsite within skill set or to other sites within 40 miles if needed

Required Certifications & Licenses

• BLS (American Heart Association)
• ACLS (American Heart Association)
• Current RN License with Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start
• License/Certificate Verification within 30 days prior to start
• Driver’s License/State ID (valid, must match address requirements)

Required Assessments & Exams

• Ascension Color Vision Test (updated every 3 years)
• Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA topics; yearly)
• NIH Certification (updated yearly or every 2 years depending on group)
• Ascension EKG Exam (passing score of 80%, max 2 attempts)
• Ascension Epic Test-Out (training and test checklist)
• Ascension Specialty Exam (passing score of 80%, updated every 3 years)
• Ascension Skills Checklist (clinical skills, updated annually)
• Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen (within 30 days prior to start, updated annually)

Onboarding & Professional Requirements

• Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation
• Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding (completed onsite)
• Ascension Nova StatStrip (pre-hire modules)
• Ascension Badge Photo (professional headshot)
• Ascension Profile (resume or professional profile)
• Ascension 2 Professional References (at least two)
• Ascension Criminal Background Check (7-year search, updated annually)
• Ascension EPLS (Exclusionary Provider List System) check within 90 days
• Ascension Education Verification (within 90 days prior to start)
• Ascension Confirmation of Assignment (provided upon assignment and updates)
• Ascension Employment Verification (past 7 years, updated annually)

Health & Immunization Requirements

• MMR: Documented proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations)
• Hepatitis B: Vaccination series completion or signed declination
• Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider (no declinations)
• Tdap: Valid within 10 years (no declinations)
• Influenza Vaccine: Recommended for flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement
• Fit Test: Required annually (preferred before start, can be onsite)
• TB Screening: Positive IGRA or PPD results, negative chest X-ray within 1 year, and annual TB questionnaire
• Health Statement: Statement of good health or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually

Additional Notes

• Must complete all required documentation and verifications prior to or at onboarding
• Floating to other units or nearby sites may be required based on staffing needs
• Compliance with Ascension Health policies and procedures is mandatory
