Job Opportunity: RN Critical Care (LTA)
Location: Chicago, Illinois
Facility: Saint Mary Of Nazareth Hospital
Hospital System: Prime Healthcare Foundation, Inc.
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Summary
- Float between ICU and Telemetry units.
- Responsible for safe patient care using nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Provide direct patient care within scope of practice.
- Guide patient/family teaching and supervise other nursing personnel.
- Maintain standards of care in ICU.
- Communicate with physicians regarding patient condition changes, hemodynamic monitoring, diagnostic results, and symptoms.
- Respond quickly and accurately to patient condition changes or treatment responses.
- Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Current and valid Illinois RN license.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (American Heart Association or Red Cross).
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification (American Heart Association or Red Cross).
- Minimum of 1 year experience as a staff RN in acute care hospital, critical care setting.
- Critical Care RN (CCRN) certification preferred.
- COVID-19 vaccination and boosters preferred.
Onboarding & Compliance Requirements
- Driver’s License, State ID, or Passport.
- Prime OIG clearance.
- Drug screening (minimum 10-panel test including THC) within 60 days of start.
- Annual color-blind test (Relias accepted).
- Prime agency attestation and SAM/EPLS verification.
- Resume and two professional references required for submission.
- BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications required for onboarding.
- Prime Basic Pharmacology Exam (minimum 80% score).
- Prime Specialty Exam (minimum 80% score).
- Education verification.
- COVID-19 vaccine (2 doses + booster) or completed declination.
- Proof of immunity or vaccination for MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Influenza (or declination where allowed), Tdap.
- Annual TB test and questionnaire.
- Respirator fit test annually (on-site testing available at IL facilities).
- Physical/Health statement annually confirming clearance to work.
- National criminal background check within one year of start date.
- Facility-specific badge photo (JPEG, clear headshot).
- Employment eligibility verification (Form I-9 or agency attestation).
- Signed job description.
- DCI/BVP certification required.
- Completion of Essentials Onboarding Packet.
- Prime Core Competencies Exam (minimum 80% score).
- Prime Skills Checklist required for submission.
Additional Notes
- Declinations for certain vaccines (Hepatitis B, Influenza, Tdap) may not be accepted at some facilities.
- Background check timing and requirements may vary by state and unit assignment.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced critical care environment with flexibility to float between ICU and Telemetry units.
