Cath Lab Tech - Northridge Hospital Medical Center, California

Position Overview

• Seeking an experienced Cath Lab Tech for a travel contract.
• Minimum 2 full years of experience required.
• Must hold active BLS, ACLS, ARRT certifications, and a California license.
• Travel experience preferred.
• Experience with IR, cath lab, and neuro required; EP experience preferred.

Contract Length

• Approximately 32 weeks.

Work Environment & Unit Details

• Unit: Cath Lab & Interventional Radiology (IR)
• Number of suites/labs: 4
• Average cases per year: 1200 (very busy cath lab)
• EMR/Equipment: Cerner
• Charge Nurse and Cath Lab/IR Techs present on unit

Certifications Required

• ACLS, ARRT, BLS, and PALS

Call and Weekend Requirements

• Call required every other weekend for Techs and RNs (from Friday off shift through Monday 7am).
• Weekday call required approximately 14-15 days per 4-week period for Techs and RNs.
• Holiday call required depending on needs.
• Cardiologists are on call 24/7.
• Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy available 24/7.

Shifts

• Variable 8-hour shifts for Techs (possible consideration for 10 or 12-hour shifts).
• RN shifts are variable 8-hour shifts.
• Floating is not required.
• Floor-specific orientation: 1 shift.

Clinical Experience & Case Types

• Must be proficient in IR, cath lab, EP, and neuro procedures.
• Common cases include:

  • Cath Lab: Left & Right interventional and diagnostic procedures, implants, pacers.
  • EP: EP studies, diagnostics, ablations.
  • IR: Central lines, fistulas, chemo ports.
  • Neuro: Cerebral aneurysms, thrombectomies, coils.
• The neuro case volume is increasing.

Additional Notes

• Scrub color is provided.
• Telemetry equipment: GE Spacelabs.
• No ventilator or IV team responsibilities.
• Call response time starts when leaving for the day until the next shift begins.
• 10-hour day shifts with call included, every other weekend schedule.
