Travel RN PCU Position - Murfreesboro, Tennessee

Unit Information

  • Unit Capacity: 32 Beds
  • Patient Population: Respiratory Failure, CHF, MI, Chronic Dialysis, Post-surgical, CABG, CRRT, Neurology cases, Trauma patients, Impellas, IABP, EVD drains
  • Patient Age Range: Adolescents through Late Adults (16 - 60+ years)
  • Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1:2
  • Core Staffing: Mid-level providers, registered nurses, surgical first assists, surgical technicians, nursing care partners, nurse externs, doulas, clerical associates
  • Shift Leadership: Each shift has a designated team leader; a registered nurse assumes full responsibility for all patient care

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Required Certifications and Licenses

  • BLS (American Heart Association)
  • ACLS (American Heart Association)
  • Current RN license with primary source verification within 30 days prior to assignment start
  • Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start
  • Ascension Color Vision test (completed prior to start, updated every 3 years)
  • Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics; completed within a year of start, updated yearly)
  • NIH Certification (updated yearly or every 2 years depending on group)
  • Ascension EKG Exam (passing score of at least 80%, two attempts allowed)
  • Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation
  • Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding (completed onsite)
  • Ascension Nova StatStrip training (pre-hire modules for non-allied positions)
  • Ascension Cerner Test-Out (clinical system competency)
  • Ascension Skills Checklist (clinical skills, completed within one year of start, updated annually)

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • MMR: Documented proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted)
  • Fit Test: Required annually; preferred prior to start
  • Hepatitis B: Vaccination series completion or signed declination
  • Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement
  • Positive PPD or IGRA with negative chest X-ray and annual TB questionnaire (updated annually)
  • Health Statement: Statement of good health or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
  • 2 Step PPD or IGRA within 90 days prior to start
  • Varicella: Proof of immunity or two doses of vaccine (no declinations accepted)
  • Tdap: Valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
  • Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen: Completed within 30 days prior to start, updated annually

Professional and Background Requirements

  • Driver’s License/State ID (valid, must match address requirements)
  • Ascension Profile (resume or professional profile)
  • Two professional references prior to first assignment
  • Criminal Background Check including Social Security Trace, Employment Verification, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry (completed within 30 days prior to first assignment, updated annually)
  • EPLS (Exclusionary Provider List System) check within 90 days prior to start
  • Education Verification relevant to clinical work (within 90 days prior to start)
  • Confirmation of Assignment documentation (start and end dates must match system records)
  • Employment Verification for past seven years (updated annually)
  • Optional: Hiring Manager Evaluation and Name Change Documentation if applicable

This position requires a highly skilled RN with critical care experience in progressive care or step-down units, capable of managing complex patients with advanced cardiac and respiratory support devices. Compliance with all credentialing, health, and onboarding requirements is mandatory prior to assignment start.
