Job Opportunity: Labor & Delivery Nurse (L&D)
Location: San Ramon, California
Employment Type: Long Term Contract (13 weeks)
Shift: 7pm - 7am
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
Weekend Requirement: Yes
Float Requirement: As needed within skillset
Requirements
- Certifications: BLS, NRP, AWHONN Advanced
- Experience:
- Managing approximately 60 births per month
- Mother-Baby ratio: 3:1
- Active labor ratio: 1:1
- Skills:
- Delivery management including vaginal, cesarean sections (circumferential vaginal/c-section), labor inductions, and care of high-risk mothers
- Postpartum and well-baby care
- Couplet care experience required
- Experience in Family Birthing Center (LDRP model) with high and low-risk patients
- Ability to circulate for vaginal and cesarean deliveries
- Unit Experience:
- LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum)
- Special Care Nursery (32 weeks gestational age)
Clinical Environment & Procedures
- Average maternal age: 33 years
- Common patient diagnoses: fertility patients, advanced maternal age (AMA), gestational hypertension (GHTN), gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM)
- Procedures on unit:
- Patient-controlled epidural analgesia (PCEA) epidurals
- Two operating rooms for cesarean sections (staff scrub; travel nurses not expected to scrub)
- Medication titration including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, Insulin, Labetalol
Additional Information
- Flu and COVID-19 vaccines required (medical or religious exemptions accepted)
